Royal Purple

Head to Toe: Sweater, Gap; Cords, Thrifted; Flats, Steve Madden (Gift); Necklace, American Eagle (Gift).

Purple is such a great, rich, color for this time of year. So when I spotted these purple cords, I was practically drooling. A chunky sweater and some glitzy accessories and we're good to go.

Sparkle Season

Head to Toe: Sweater, Forever 21; Skirt, Marshall'sl Heels, Target.

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it's officially the holidays. I put Christmas music on my iPod and busted out the sequins (even though I have yet to start my shopping). And today, snow is in the forecast!

Turkey Coma

Head to Toe: Sweater, American Eagle (Gift); Jeggings, Thrifted; Scarf, Vendor; Headband, Loft; Socks, Urban Outfitters; Boots, Target.

Happy belated Thanksgiving! Hope you ate yourself into a delicious Turkey coma just like I did. This break is the longest time I've had off since I started working in the big girl world almost a year ago, so I'm relishing in all of the down time. My mom and I cooked a low-key meal yesterday for our immediate family complete with all the classics. Below, see my beautiful turkey; some fall sangria with cranberries, apples, pears and oranges; crock pot caramel cider; and the whole spread. I'm thankful for all of the great relationships I have in my life. Enjoy those leftovers!

Baby, It's Cold Outside

Head to Toe: Sweater, Strawberry; Leggings, Strawberry; Loafers, Steve Madden via Marshall's; Scarf, Gift.

I love the easy combo of a long sweater and leggings. Unfortunately, every outfit doesn't come together so effortlessly...I might begin referring to last night/this morning as the great outfit crisis of November 2012. (I have to specify the month because they happen quite frequently.) You know the feeling, staring at a packed closet yet having nothing to wear, or having an idea for a great look but when you put it on it's a few fries short of a Happy Meal. What do you do? Do you power through or resort to jeans, Uggs and a sweater and start over tomorrow? I did manage to come up with something I am okay with, but am not feeling quite satisfied. Any advice on avoiding morning meltdown?

Turkey Time

Head to Toe: Sweater, Thrifted; Skirt, Charlotte Russe; Leggings, Target; Boots, Frye.

Happy Monday! Normally I'm not so chipper about it, but being a short week I'm staying positive. It will be a busy few days, though, planning dinner and grocery shopping. I'm cooking for my parents so we are keeping it small. What are your Thanksgiving plans?

Black and Yellow

Head to Toe: Dress, Francesca's Collections; Tights, Urban Outfitters; Boots, Frye; Jacket, Thrifted.

Yes, a played-out Wiz Kalifa song is the best I can do for this title. What can I say, it's been a long week..But can you believe Thanksgiving is only a week away? I need to start planning my menu, as I'll be cooking this year. What are your plans for turkey day?

Top It Off

Head to Toe: Poncho, American Eagle; Thermal, Old Navy; Jeggings, Old Navy; Boots, Frye; Bag, Big Buddah (Gift); Hat, Target; Necklace, American Eagle (Gift).

I got this hat last fall and never wore it much, but had the perfect opportunity during an afternoon/evening in New Haven with Mackenzie. Someone told me that I pulled it off, and I chose to take it as a compliment (right?). Now I'm craving an even bigger, floppier one.

I'm trying to resist going into full-out holiday mode as the most wonderful time of the year approaches...but it's so damn tempting. I gave in to a sparkly manicure but am still resisting listening to Christmas music on my iPod...Though I practically melted seeing the New Haven green all lit up.

Black is Back

Head to Toe: Blouse, Strawberry; Skirt, Gap; Tights, Marshall's; Heels, Target; Sweater, Guess (Gift); Watch, Fossil (Gift).

If I look nice and warm posing in front of that last bit of snow, it's because I was! I sported this outfit Saturday to a work event, sans coat, and was not the least bit cold. Temps hit 60 today. It must be because in my last post I asked mother nature to hold off on winter for another month or so. Ah, the power of blogging.

Don't get me wrong. I love color, I am color-crazy...But in the chillier months I love a good, black outfit. I always include one pop of color, like my trendy oxblood blouse, here. In a pinch, my go-to outfit is a black turtleneck  with dark skinnies. Simple chic.

Snow Day

Head to Toe: Flannel, Thrifted; Shirt, Forever 21; Jeans, Delia's; Headband, DIY; Boots, North Face (Gift); Necklace, American Eagle (Gift).

Looking out the window right now, barely 24 hours later, I’m surprised to see all of this snow. It’s totally melted! Combined with writing holiday-themed stories at work, it really had me in the mood for winter…But it’s barely November! So Mother Nature, can we please have three more weeks of fall? Signed, the cold citizens of Connecticut.

Best Vest

Head to Toe: Thermal, Old Navy; Vest, Loft; Jeans, Loft; Boots, Frye; Watch, Fossil (Gift); Jacket (below), American Eagle (Gift).

I have finally prevailed in my two-year search for a furry vest. Since it's just on the collar, the plum color is flattering and not too funky. For the rest of my outfit, I went with KISS (keep it simple, stupid).

Tomorrow I'll be breaking out my snow boots. What was supposed to be a few hours of wintry mix today turned into fast-accumulating snow. Today was also supposed to be "Halloween" in my town, and it has now been pushed back to Saturday. I feel bad for the kiddies, because I can imagine that being the end of the world back in the day. But what can you do about unpredictable New England weather?
