Life Update: We're Having A Baby

Hello, fashionistas! It has indeed been some time since you've seen me on the blog. There's a lot to catch you up on. If you follow me on Instagram, you already know our news: Sean and I are expecting a baby girl this December. We are over the moon, and it's been an incredibly exciting time. That said, pregnancy during a pandemic isn't easy, and we've been doing our best to enjoy the summer in this strange new world.

Since it's been a while (nearly four months to be exact), I thought I'd catch you up on what was going on in my world. So feel free to read along or simply scroll through some #bump pictures.

Pregnancy

It's certainly a strange time to be pregnant. There's no real data about the effects of COVID-19 on pregnancy, so Sean and I have been extra careful about social distancing and staying safe. He hasn't been allowed into the doctor's office for any of my appointments, which is tough.

It did make keeping the news a secret easier before we were ready to share, since I could craft mocktails to sip on Zoom happy hours. I felt pretty crumby for all of my first trimester, but the second trimester has been great so far. We are just over halfway there at this point!

While I wish I could be out and about more, I'm enjoying distancing hangs and plenty of beach days. The slower social pace has made it nice to focus on time with Sean and trying to stay relaxed in my pregnancy (said amid a global pandemic).

Despite the extra layer of stress, it's been a really happy time for us. Earlier this week, I got to see our little gal for our 20-week anatomy scan and she is looking healthy. The doctor took a 3-D picture for us to see her face, and it was exciting to imagine this little human in my belly.

Work

A baby on board isn't the only thing that's been keeping us busy these days! Sean and I have both been really busy with work. For me, business is booming! And that's a good thing—when you're a freelancer, you always welcome more work.

I've been writing for Real Homes, Complex and Connecticut Magazine (linked to my bylines if you're looking for some reading). Additionally, I am the new editor for the 2021 addition of Westchester/Hudson Valley Weddings magazine! I'm still working with marketing clients as well, so it's definitely been a hectic time, but I am grateful to collaborate with such great companies.

It hasn't been all work and no play. I'm still enjoying freelancer perks of a flexible schedule and was able to squeeze in some farm time with my friend Rebecca, and goats, last week ahead of the crowds.

Home

Because that all wasn't enough (right??), we are also in the process of purchasing our first home! I won't jinx any of the details just yet, but we are very excited to soon be moving into our own space. Of course I'm saving all of the decor ideas on Pinterest, and I can not wait to decorate.

We've been enjoying backyard hangs at my parents' house so much, we decided to get our own.

I would really love to wander around antique stores and flea markets to shop for furniture, but since that isn't an option, I've been loving Auction Ninja. There are some really awesome deals and cool antique/vintage finds. And I have to admit, winning something you really wanted is an addictive feeling. (You have been warned.)

So I think that covers all of the happenings here! I hope to be showing my face around here more to share all of the bump looks, house projects and decorating fun. What do you want to see?
