Floral Spring Wedding Guest Dress

Head to Toe: Dress, Topshop via Buffalo Exchange // Bag, Brahmin // Scarf, Lilysilk // Mules, thrifted

Last weekend, Sean and I attended a wedding in Richmond. It was held at a beautiful venue called The Boathouse, and we stayed at The Graduate—a trendy downtown hotel. I found this floral Topshop dress at Buffalo Exchange when we were in Brooklyn to celebrate our anniversary a few weeks back. It was love at first sight—midi sleeves (I'm always cold), a springy pattern and a mid-length cut with a slit that's modest but not frumpy. Pair with comfy block heels for dancing and I was good to go! The day was beautiful, and so were the bride and groom. Congrats to them! What's your go-to wedding look?

Vintage Patterned Blouse and Blazer

Head to Toe: Blouse, slides and jeans, thrifted // Blazer, Forever 21 // Bag, Brahmin

One of my favorite thrift pieces is a silky vintage blouse. I found this one (I think it’s 1990s) at the Norwalk Goodwill. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if I initially liked it. My friend and shopping mate described it as “ugly chic,” and I agree—it reminds me of ceramic tiles. Still, it was half price and ended up costing about $3, so I of course bought it and styled with high waist jeans.

I realized, I think, that while I’m not afraid of color, I don’t typically wear much pattern aside from the occasional stripe. So maybe that’s what is turning me off. But variety is the spice of life, no? Consider this my fashion goal to incorporate more pattern into my wardrobe. Saturday, I’m heading to a wedding and wearing a bright floral dress. I can’t wait to share with you! Happy Easter and Passover to all!

One Year Later, Still Wearing White

Head to Toe: T-shirt, Urban Outfitters // Jacket, Thrifted // Pants, c/o Mavi // Bag, The Sak // Slides, Summit White Mountain

Yesterday was Sean and my first wedding anniversary. It's so true—the days are long but the years are short. This past year flew! We celebrated on Saturday by going to Brooklyn to have dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant (the same one we went to the night Sean proposed). I wanted to wear something comfy for walking in the city, and these loose-fitting paper bag slacks were perfect. Since they're a relaxed fit, I paired with a tight tee (appropriately in lavender, our wedding color). I might normally wear these with heels, but I went with comfort over height.

After dinner, Sean brought me to the Speakeasy where we first met. It was such a wonderful trip down memory lane. Yesterday, we had some delicious defrosted wedding cake and toasted our first year as a married couple. It has been such an amazing year and I'm so excited for many more to come!

Spring Pattern Mixing for Work

Head to Toe: Blouse and culottes, thrifted (similar) // Sneakers, Keds // Bag, J.McLaughlin // Scarf, Lilysilk // Jacket, Urban Outfitters

Now that I'm full-time freelance, I like to work with my dad once a week in his office. We enjoy each other's company, and I like to get dressed for the day in something besides athleisure. This week, I cheated and wore these plaid culottes, which are actually super soft and stretchy like sweatpants. I finished the look with a little pattern mixing and threw on my favorite bomber. Hooray for finally being out of coat season! What's your work uniform?

A Texas Tuxedo With a Side of Coffee

Head to toe: T-Shirt, c/o Feel Great Goods // Jeans, Urban Outfitters // Slides and jean jacket, thrifted // Bag, Brahmin

It's that time of year when the weather can go from 70 degrees to 40 in a matter of hours, and a jean jacket is my most versatile favorite. I paired with darker jeans to avoid a total Britney circa 2001 and slipped into my new bow slides, a recent Goodwill find. April is shaping up to be a crazy busy month for us, so I am relying on all the coffee. This Feel Great Goods tee is an actual mood, perfect accessorized with a cold brew (use the code ANNIE30 to snag one for yourself at 30-percent off). What's your go-to coffee order?

Floral Embroidered Sweater

Head to Toe: Sweater, thrifted // Jeans, Wrangler // Sneakers, Converse (thrifted)

Happy April! Welcome to that time of year in New England where it should be spring, but it probably doesn't feel like it. I was a little under the weather Saturday, so I missed out on the rogue beautiful day, but I know there will be more to come. In the meantime, I'm in love with the dainty embroidered flowers on this vintage sweater. I found it during a thrift date last week at Goodwill for a few bucks. It's warm, but doesn't feel bulky like my January sweaters, which I happily moved to storage a few weeks back. What's your favorite transitional piece?
