Accessorizing a Plain Romper and Blog v. Reality

Head to Toe: Romper, Marshall's // Sandals, Pikolinos // Bag, Vera Bradley // Hat, Adrienne Vittadini (similar) // Scarf, Echo (similar)

I have to admit, this post is totally a case of Instagram versus reality. Pictured: Look at how cute I look taking my sweet adorable dog for a casual walk in platform sandals! Not pictured: Truman attempting to pull my arm out of its socket, eating literally everything on the sidewalk and getting overly excited about a dog walking by so that the owner is forced to stop as we awkwardly pretend she doesn't notice my camera setup. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, folks!!

Some Big News and a Celebratory Giveaway

Head to Toe: Camisole, Lilysilk // Shorts, hand-me-down // Earrings, Forever 21 // Sneakers, Keds

Last weekend, a pretty awesome thing happened. I got engaged!! Sean surprised me with the sweetest proposal and I said YES! I've been on cloud nine ever since, and it was a busy week of spreading the word and planning. Get ready for some wedding inspiration posts down the pike—the Pinterest addiction is real, folks.

In the meantime, what better way to celebrate than with a giveaway? All you have to do to win the same camisole I'm wearing here ($50 value) is to like Lilysilk on Facebook through the form below! The cami is 100-percent Charmeuse Silk and has a really luxe drape. I am wearing an XS, which was a little too big for me. In NYC's recent heatwave, I'm definitely not minding the looser fit, but I'd recommend sizing down. My order came within a few days and contained easy return instructions.

Good luck, ladies! Wedded fashionistas, what's your number-one piece of advice for brides-to-be? Please and thank you!

Pup-Filled Fourth of July Picnic

Head to Toe: Bikini top, Mei L'ange (worn as bralette) // Shorts, H&M // Button-down, thrifted // Sneakers, Converse // Shades, Izipizi

It was a glorious Fourth of July weekend staycationing in NYC. During holidays, the city really empties out, and it's nice to enjoy uncrowded restaurants, parks and subways. Yesterday, Sean and I had a holiday picnic in Central Park. We decided to bring the pups with us, and they were rather high maintenance—but made for great photo ops! I packed this adorable picnic basket with cheese and sausage, sandwiches, rhubarb pie and homemade lemonade. Does it get any better?? In the evening, we headed back to our old 'hood in Brooklyn for dinner at one of our favorite haunts and to catch the fireworks. What did you do for 'Merica day?

Fourth of July Weekend: Red Hook

Head to Toe: T-shirt, H&M // Shorts and belt, thrifted // Sandals, Teva // Shades, Izipizi // Tote, Keds

I hope everyone is having the most lovely holiday weekend! I know I am. Saturday, Sean and I spent the day in Red Hook, Brooklyn. It's an adorable neighborhood with small-town vibes, just the sort you need when you live in the city. We took the ferry from Wall Street (Ikea has a free ferry that goes across to Red Hook, also handy if you're furniture shopping) and spent the day wandering around, eating and imbibing. We grabbed lunch at Hometown Barbecue, a huge joint specializing in pit-smoked meats. Sean and I split the brisket, beans and whiskey pickles—with of course a side of corn bread—and I'm honestly still full. Afterward, we took a walk down Van Brunt Street (the main drag dotted with antique shops and galleries) to The Brooklyn Ice House. I got a mule and Sean got a craft beer, which we enjoyed in the garden/patio out back. Before hopping the ferry home, we walked out to the pier to take photos and soak in the views of Lady Liberty. Happy Fourth, fashionistas!
