Zaful Leggings for a FULL Weekend

Head to Toe: Leggings, Zaful // Jacket and vest, thrifted // Boots, Wolverine

My heart (and belly) is so full from such a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. I was gramming a lot, so these pics pretty much capture the gist of it—food, friends, family and pups. Sean and I spent the holiday in Connecticut with my family and were also able to fit in a few lunches with friends while we were in town. We got home to Brooklyn just in time to set up our Christmas decorations and snag a tree.

I literally wore these Zaful leggings all weekend long, because so much indulgence requires stretchy pants. I ordered them online a few weeks back, and they came within a week. For only $10, I am really happy with the quality (a friend even asked if they were Lululemon). One note: order a size up. These are a medium, and I am usually a small or extra small. The waistband was slightly roomy—perfect for pie—but the legs were comfortably tight. I wore this look for the ride to CT, and restyled them for lunch the next day with a tee and bomber jacket.

If you're interested, the site is hosting a giveaway in honor of Cyber Monday. Comment with your favorite Zaful item for a chance to win a $100 gift card.

These Boots Are Made For...

Head to Toe: Tunic, Fashionmia // Boots, Wolverine

Winter may have officially arrived, folks. It's freezing today and super windy—I broke out my pea coat for the first time yesterday. I have a feeling these Wolverine boots (I got to custom make a pair for work) are going to be trusty all season, and I like how they up the style factor on a laid-back outfit.

In this case, I paired them with another piece from Fashionmia. This wrap tunic is super soft cotton, but it's lightweight and requires a layer underneath this time of year. I love that it's long enough to wear with leggings for work—because you know I'm all about being cozy and professional. Cheers to a short week, fashionistas! Who's ready for turkey?

Made In The Suede

Head to Toe: Top, Buffalo Exchange // Jeans, Siwy // Booties, J Shoes // Hat, Target // Jacket, Wilson (hand-me-down)

Cheers to the freakin' weekend! It was a busy week, but next week is a short one filled with food, friends and family, so who can complain? We're also having a nice little warm spurt of weather, which was the perfect excuse for me to get out and run this morning. I'm doing a 5K with my mom on Thanksgiving, and I'm hoping to be able to keep up with her. (Did I mention she runs marathons/triathlons?) Somehow, starting the holiday on a healthy note makes a ridiculous amount of turkey with buttery sides slightly less gluttonous, amiright?

Old Meets New

Head to Toe: Blouse and jeans, thrifted // Jacket, Fashionmia // Booties, Thursday Boot Company

As most of you know, I'm a big proponent of thrift shopping. I scored these jeans over the summer at the Salvation Army in Williamsport, PA, for $4, and made them my own by cutting off the bottoms. This striped top was a find at a great thrift shop in Austin called Treasure City Thrift. The store is dedicated to the idea that thrift should actually be cheap. And, it succeeded—this top was only $3.

For me, the key to not looking like you're in a time warp is to mix old basics with contemporary pieces, like this Fashionmia jacket. It's a bit lighter than I was expecting, which was actually perfect for this week's warm spell. Overall, I was happy with the quality, and delivery time was only a week. I got the small (I'm usually an XS), because sites abroad typically run on the smaller side, but I think I could've sized down. Still, it works as a layering piece on the roomier side.

The last accessory for this look was a bright red lip. Somehow, I feel like a good lipstick always makes my face look brighter and more awake, which was necessary on this Monday morning. Sean and I got a new puppy over the weekend, and Truman (below), though adorable, is exhausting. Between that and a busy work week, it was tough to get to the blog. But we made it, fashionistas...Happy Friday!

Three Piece Suit

Head to Toe: Blouse and jumper, Stylewe // Sneakers, Puma

I have to admit, I wrote a long, heartfelt note to publish with this blog. I deleted it. New England Romance has never been about politics but about adventures in fashion and in life. In fact, it's in many ways meant to be a diversion from things that may be troublesome. Instead of talking about the election, I'm just going to talk about this Stylewe jumper (which is actually two pieces that button together). I just love the way it hangs, and the fabric is super soft and comfy. Plus I'm enjoying the remaining days of being able to flash a little ankle. Happy Friday, fashionistas. Always, always choose love.
For anyone who may be interested in checking out Stylewe, I wanted to provide a little more information about the site. I was pleasantly impressed with the quality (comparable to nice Zara items), and my order came very quickly—within one week. For the holiday season, it's a great source for evening dresses with sleeves, blazers and sequin skirts. The site has extensive product reviews to help you out. This jumper is a size small, my typical size, and fit me perfectly. I got tons of compliments on it and would definitely order from the site again!

Let's Taco 'Bout It

Home sweet home! It was a wonderful trip to Austin, full of food and music. I think I've eaten my fill of tacos for a while, but the breakfast tacos at food truck Pueblo Viejo were the one of best things I've ever tasted. We also tried fried avocado taco cones, chicken fried steak and, well, a lot of other fried things. Austin is one of the USA's music capitols, so we saw live music almost every night. We took a chilly dip in Barton Springs pool, a natural swimming pool in Austin. On Saturday, we took a drive to New Braunfels, TX, for Wurstfest, a weeklong Oktoberfest (in November). I'll be working off all those wonderful dishes and craft beers for a while, but it was worth it. Until next time, Austin!

Sweater(dress) Weather

Head to Toe: Dress, Baily 44 // Booties, Musse & Cloud // Bag, Zara

Hello from Austin! Well, not exactly...These photos were taken in New York a while back, but I thought it was an appropriate time to share a bare-legged outfit while I'm enjoying the warmth here in Texas. I love that this dress looks like it's a skirt and tunic but is actually one piece. Oh, how I miss the easy-on outfits of early fall. I finally broke down and wore tights last week. Are you guys still holding out?

Perfect Travel Outfit

Head to Toe: Leggings, New Balance // Booties, Thursday Boot Company // Jacket, thrifted // Bag, Land's End // Scarf, Cougar

And, we're off! I wanted to share a quick post with my favorite travel outfit. I always try to wear some of the heaviest things I plan on bringing. It lightens the load and keeps me warm on the inevitably cold airplane. Hence, the jean jacket, booties and this awesome blankest scarf (which doubles as an actual blanket in-flight). And leggings are a must. What's your travel uniform?
