Workweek Outfits

No, you aren't drunk...My tripod was a little crooked last week, but I wanted to share these looks anyway. It felt like the first real stretch of fall so I broke out some of my favorite slouchy sweaters. Cheers to surviving Monday, fashionistas!

Sartorial Sunday: Golden Hour

Head to Toe: Dress, Village Vogue // Pumps, Payless

This vintage ’60s lime green dress is hands-down one of my favorite things that I own. I wore it to an event for the magazine last year that ensued a few rips in the delicate lace, and it’s been hanging in my closet ever since. But when I needed an outfit for a gala last week (celebrating the Designer Showhouse on the Green in Fairfield), my heart ached for this dress. Enter my mom/seamstress, who had no problem fixing the holes with clear thread and restoring it to its original beauty. She even shot these photos during the perfect autumn golden hour before the event. She’s literally superwoman.

The Cool Girl's Guide to Dressing for Fall

You know the cool girl I speak of...Her summer tan and sun-streaked highlights endure far past Labor Day. She's mastered the art of layering without looking like Ralphie's little brother from A Christmas Story ("I can't put my arms down!"). She refuses to wear tights until the first snow. She does fall better than a pumpkin spice latte, and she never looks like she's trying too hard. I may never be able to be her, but by borrowing from these looks by my favorite blogger's, anyone can project a little more cool.
Do like Krystal from This Time Tomorrow and say buh-bye to your typical trench. A sleeveless version is a lot more chic, and can still protect your upper-half from autumn winds.
Suede is the new it material. Helena from Brooklyn Blonde rocks it with head-to-toe beige for a sweet-as-honey '70s vibe.
Wear black. All black. Black is the new black. Take it from Sydney at The Daybook.
Get your slit together. It's time to toss those jeans with the gaping holes that your parents have been making fun of you for years about ("Did you buy them like that!?"). A peekaboo rip is all you need. Kendi Everyday has it down.
I checked with Sincerely Jules and your denim button-down is still cool. Just be sure to haphazardly roll your sleeves and leave the few top buttons open to keep it interesting.

Workweek Outfits

Hey there, fashionistas! I know, I know, long time no talk…The last time I posted I was talking about LDW and the dwindling days of summer, and now I’m already planning my Halloween costume. Between family visits and work craziness, it’s been hard to set aside time to blog—so here I am a little late. Last week was jam-packed with meetings and after-hours work events, so my outfits had to be comfy for long days and versatile enough to go from cubical to cocktails. It’s also that tricky time of year when it’s summer in the sun and winter in the shade (Did I just quote Charles Dickens?), so light layers were necessary. How do you attack this temperamental season?

Sartorial Sunday: Work-Week Wears

Hey there, fashionistas! I hope you're having a positively lovely Labor Day weekend. It may be the unofficial end of summer, but I'm not giving up yet. Here's what I rocked for this past week of work, albeit a short one. (Our company gave us the gift of Friday off, too!) I'm slowly sneaking in some fall pieces, like these great booties found at Salvation Army and my trusty leather jacket, but had to be comfortable for hot late-summer days. I bookended the week with bright dresses, and rocked casual looks for photo shoots Tuesday and Wednesday. Okay, time to go—there's still some weekend left—enjoy!
