Inspired by: Glamping

This weekend, I'm off to the mountains for a family reunion. There's no cell service, TV or internet, and I couldn't be more excited for a technology detox. I can smell the mountain air just thinking about it! Since I'll be staying among the great outdoors, I consider it a form of "glamping" (glamorous camping for those who aren't familiar with the recent trend). So, I'm sharing some chic camping necessities that I'd bring if I were visiting the mountains budget-free, plus my recent Glamping "Pinspiration." Now get outside, fashionistas!

Strawberry Fields

Head to Toe: Blouse, Rainbow; Shorts, Gap; Sandals, Steve Madden; Bag, Target.

The highlight of this past weekend was a trip to a local farm for strawberry picking and a wine tasting. It was the absolute perfect 74-degree day to sit in the sun and sip wine while noshing on strawberries. The outfit went great with my easy breezy attitude. High five for Friday!

Good Vibes Only

The last part of my apartment that I'd like to share is my bedroom. I painted the walls a soft lavender, which is soothing and good for sleep. The comforter and shams are Cynthia Rowley, and the bookshelves are topped with books from college, photos of friends and some cool geodes. It's Monti's favorite place to lounge as well.

Jump Street

Head to Toe: Jumper, Forever 21 via Continuations Consignments; Clutch, Rue 21; Watch, Fossil; Jacket, Forever 21; Heels, Target.

This post title was inspired by the hilarious 22 Jump Street, which I recommend to anyone looking for a laugh. I hope it was a fabulous weekend for everyone—mine was! It was back to the Monday grind today, but I wore this jumper for casual Friday last week. I've said it many times, and I'll say it again. Functional sweatpants are the best work wear.

Easy Summer Wedding Look

Head to Toe: Dress, Victoria's Secret via Continuation's Consignments; Sandals, Strawberry; Headband, Charlotte Russe.

This pink maxi and updo combo looks really elegant, but is super easy to put together. Worn long (sometimes I tie the bottom in a knot to prevent tripping) with high shoes, it has a formal look, even though it's stretchy cotton. The hairdo takes a headband and 10 seconds, and it always gets a ton of compliments. See the tutorial I made last sumer, here. Though I wore to work on a hot weekday, I think it's a great wedding or summer evening look that requires very little fuss. High five for Friday, fashionistas!

Yes Way Rosé

Head to Toe: Dress, BCBG; Denim blouse, Gap; Booties, Target; Bag, thrifted; Glasses, Guess.

Sorry if my face looks a little sour in these photos. As I was setting up my tripod, my camera took a dive. Thankfully, it was a little glarey out so I had the hood on and it took the brunt of the fall. They cost about $3 on Amazon as opposed to a new lens so all in all, it wasn't so bad. Disaster averted! Anyway, about the outfit: a chambray button down makes a nice alternative to a cardigan for office air conditioning, while booties keep toes warm without bulk. For an outdoor lunch, loose the chambray and swap booties for flip flops.

Keep it Classic

Head to Toe: Blouse, thrifted; Jeans, Hollister via Continuations Consignments; Sandals, Steve Madden via Marshall's.

This year, my summer style goal is to simplify. While I love a good arm party, sometimes less is definitely more. My theory proved to be true when I was instantly grabbed by a classic New England look on Pinterest (see bottom). I recreated the outfit to streamline a rushed Friday morning.
Thanks for the Pinspiration, Carly!

Playing Fast and Loose

Head to Toe: Dress, Billabong via Continuations Consignments; Sweater, Keds (borrowed); Sandals and purse, Target; Necklace, American Eagle.

For casual Friday last week, I went a little less faded denim and a little more Olsen twin. But what's better for summer than loose layers and a boho canteen bag? Maxis are my summer go-to. They're cool enough for outdoor lunches but provide enough coverage for office a/c. Special thanks to my bestie, Liz for letting me borrow the sweater (AKA leaving it at my house by accident). I guess it's the risk you take being my friend—your belongings may end up on the blog. TGIF, fashionistas!

Kitchen Confidential

Today I'm sharing another room in my apartment, possibly my favorite: the kitchen. Being on an upper floor, I get a lot of natural light. It's my happy place to sit near the window on weekend mornings as the sun streams in. To match that happy feeling, I picked yellow Cynthia Rowley curtains from Home Goods (hemmed to accommodate cove ceilings). I nabbed the table, which perfectly matches the countertops and cabinetry, off a co-worker's friend for $20. To top off the "happy" theme, I try and keep flowers out when I can. The tin and butterfly trays are from a vintage pop-up shop (per the butterfly: I have an unexplainable thing for vintage ash trays). The photos above the window are from my Grandpa's office and I am struggling to keep the succulents below alive. Sometimes the pantry is stocked and sometimes the cupboards are bare, but I can always live off of cereal, ramen and eggs with Sriracha.

Head to Toe: Dress, Marshall's; Sweater, American Eagle; Sandals, Strawberry; Headband, Marshall's.

Yet another beautiful summer weekend has passed. I got my fair share of outside time in, so I'm not going to pout about the rain predicted for the week. I wore this outfit one day last week, and never intended to share it on the blog. It was a quick get dressed, fast look: I threw on my comfiest maxi and used a bright headband to tame second-day hair. The sweater happened to match perfectly, so I brought it to combat the a/c. I got a lot of compliments on my coordination, so when I stopped for a visit at home, I had my dad snap these photos. Sometimes, the unplanned outfits are the best ones. Happy Monday, fashionistas!
