Happy Anniversary New England Romance! Four Seasons of Style

Check out my stellar photography skills from my very first post two years ago here. Today is New England Romance's second birthday, and I always love the trip down memory lane that is looking through old blog posts (check out last year's anniversary post here). It's been a good, stylish year, even though it flew by. My blog has really documented my journey into adulthood, and I'm proud to reflect on how far I've come since my last semester of college in 2011. Though I've grown, I think my style has remained relatively the same: colorful, feminine, sometimes boho but always New England. But my wardrobe has definitely expanded! Amen to that. Here's to another year of fashion.
Thanks to Mackenzie and my parents for snapping my photos these past two years, and thanks to all of my readers and fellow bloggers for all of your support! Kisses.

Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Day

Head to Toe: Dress, Urban Outfitters; Sandals, Charlotte Russe.

This dress is one of my favorite girls-night out looks, and can be dressed up with heels or slightly more casual with flats like I am rocking here. It was another beautiful summer weekend here in Connecticut. That means back to the grind today, but who can complain with a long weekend coming up? (Let's not mention that it's the unofficial ending of summer.) I am taking an extra day and turning it into a mini-vacation with lots of adventures planned.
P.S.: Check out Julia's blog, Julie Wears Wellingtons. She was so nice as to share some looks of me sporting my Hunters. Find tons of ways to wear your Wellies - rain or shine!

Stripes and Studs

Head to Toe: Tee, Gap; Skirt, Forever 21; Shoes, Steve Madden; Bag, Olivia + Joy via Marshall's.

Happy Saturday! The weather is New England perfect out, 80's with low humidity. I am looking cautiously fall-ish in this outfit I sported to work yesterday. Though I am not letting go of summer yet, I was eager to wear these studded babies and I love cheetah with yellow. Tonight I am hitting the town with friends to squeeze out as much as possible from this gorgeous day. Tomorrow I'll be strolling through an arts and crafts fair in town, where my mom is exhibiting her braided rugs. To see where I get my creativity from, check out her Etsy store. Enjoy your weekend, fashionistas!

Busy Bee - Crochet Shorts

Head to Toe: Top, Urban Outfitters; Shorts, Forever 21; Sandals, Target; Bag, Thrifted.

It's been a busy end of summer for me, but I managed to squeeze a lot of fun into the weekend. Saturday, I wore this summery look to Milford's Oyster Festival, where I enjoyed walking around with friends and eating carnival food. Sunday my mom and took a great day trip to Collinsville and took a stand up paddleboarding lesson. It was such a blast, and surprisingly quite relaxing. We caught on fast enough that on the way back, our instructor taught us how to do yoga moves on the board. After our workout, we earned a wine break, so on the way home we stopped at Rosedale Vineyards where we had a tasting and ate lunch on the veranda. Lovely. Yesterday was back to the grind in a big way but I've been extra motivated lately...And tomorrow is already the halfway mark! Happy hump day!

Oxblood Leather Shorts

Head to Toe: Blouse, Hollister; Shorts, Marshall's; Phone Case, Tory Burch; Bracelet, Loft.

Happy Friday once again! I like this outfit for a transitional, end-of-summer look. Essentially, it's shorts and a tee, but updated with luxe fabrics and Autumnal colors. The forecast is calling for a beautiful weekend, and I'm still tossing around plans. Definitely going to be outside soaking up the sun, wherever I end up. Cheers!

Yeah, I Wear Rain Boots with Rompers

Head to Toe: Romper and Bag, Marshall's; Boots, Hunter

In an effort to wear all of my summer pieces this month, I'm sporting an oldie-but-goodie, my first ever romper. I paired it with my rain boots for what was a rainy day. Whenever I take my blog pictures wearing them, the sun is shining. Preferable, but makes me look like a liar. Anyway, they came in handy when I had to make an impromptu breakfast run yesterday morning when the sun was definitely not shining.

Feather Dress and a First Birthday

Head to Toe: Dress, Old Navy; Sandals, Target; Belt, hand-me-down

Saturday I attended a first birthday party for Mackenzie's niece, Wren. The decorations were just as adorable as the guest of honor, so I had to share some shots with you (major pinnables). Super-creative mommy/host Jess of What She Cooked, nailed every detail. I especially loved the photo booth, complete with fancy frame and funky props. I thought my feather-printed dress was appropriate for a Wren party. Happy birthday birdy!

Late Summer Dress

Head to Toe: Dress and belt, hand-me-down; Sandals, Target; Bag, Thrifted.

I find that I always feel better about Mondays if I take the time to pick out an outfit I feel pretty in. This dress is a recent hand-me-down from Kenzie's sister, Dee, who passes along a lot of her fabulous wardrobe to me. Plus it's good timing as I reach that point of the season where I'm a bit tired of my summer clothes but refuse to buy any more shorts and dresses...But I also don't want to rush the end of summer! So, I went with my new old dress that shows off my tanned shoulders but covers enough of my legs so that I don't freeze in office a/c. Ah, Monday harmony.

Striped Maxi

Head to Toe: Maxi, Marshall's; Sandals, Charlotte Russe; Scarf, American Eagle.

High five for Friday! I'm looking forward to a sunny, obligation-free weekend. Keeping it short and sweet tonight, as it is now 5:56 and socially acceptable to pour a glass of wine. What are you up to this weekend?
