Pattern Play

Head to Toe: Sweater, Gap; Skirt, Gift; Tights, Loft; Flats, Vince Camuto via Marshall's.

Hope you all had an egg-cellent Easter (cornball alert). I veered away from spring pastels but kept it colorful nonetheless.

Luckily, the weather was pretty spring-like for my three-day weekend. The BF and I took advantage by staying active. We took the pup to the dog park, played basketball, went for drives, went bowling and to the driving range, and I even busted out my bicycle that had been collecting dust all winter. It felt really great to move around and be outdoors. Today the fam and I celebrated the holiday with brunch and a nice long walk.

Just Peachy

Head to Toe: Pants, Strawberry; Blouse, Marshall's; Sweater, Gap; Jacket, Marshall's; Necklace and Oxfords, Forever 21; Bag, Thrifted

My peachy pants match perfectly with my peachy mood. It is now officially the weekend for me and I've been looking forward to these three days off for a while. My exciting news for the week? I got a new tattoo! (See Insta below, and that is my back if you couldn't tell.) And, no, it doesn't mean anything, I just love elephants. It has me itching for summer more than ever; I can't wait to get to the beach and show it off! But for now, I'll take what looks like a pretty spring weekend.

Spring Blues and Insta-Week

Head to Toe: Blouse, Marshall's; Jacket, Forever 21; Jeans, TJ Maxx; Heels, Nine West - Thrifted; Scarf, H&M.

These jeans were a clearance buy a few months back, and I've been waiting for a spring day to wear them. It was not snowing or below freezing yesterday, so I considered that spring-y enough. The "clutch" is an envelop a co-worker of mine received an invitation in...she knew it would be good blog material. Thanks Kerri!

So I saw this metallic Sharpie manicure idea on Pinterest, and yes, it works! I decided to do a half-moon with mint polish. It's Sally Hansen's Mint Sorbet. The other Pinterest-worthy thing I did this week was make cake pops. I made cake for my Dad's birthday, and I was crushed when it didn't come out of the pan right and turned into a crumbly mess. But in "when life gives you lemons" fashion, I turned the ruined cake into cake pops. My dad loved them, and I took the rest into work the next day. And they were a hit! I love happy endings.

Cheap and Chic

One thing I have heard from people a lot since I started my blog is that they were surprised to see where my clothes were from, and how inexpensive they were! I've always been one to choose five $10 sweaters over one for $50. You can look fashionable and pulled-together without splurging on designer brands. I'm always searching for good deals, and love cheap clothes stores online. Check out these two spring looks I styled from pieces at, both for under $100. And in case you're in the market, they also have cheap wedding dresses and men's shirts for your guy.

Color Me Spring

Head to Toe: Dress, Loft; Leggings, Strawberry; Jacket, Forever 21; Sneakers, Converse; Bag, Thrifted.

Happy Saturday! It's snowing right now, but I'm just going to pretend it isn't. I love the springy feel of this striped dress and I'm currently obsessed with wearing my Converse with everything.

I love the pastel hair color trend, so I did some experimenting with hair chalk. I first saw it at Urban Outfitters, but a tiny container was so expensive! I found some at Sally's for $5 and finally tried it out. I like it so much that I'm seriously getting tempted to do something permanent. Maybe like this with a little lavender? What are your thoughts on the pastel hair trend?
It's super easy! I curled my hair first, and generously rubbed on the chalk on my ends. Then I applied a little hairspray to set it in.

Mint Condition

Head to Toe: Shirt, Gap; Jacket, Old Navy; Cords, J. Crew; Sneakers, Converse; Bag, Thrifted.

I'm absolutely in love with these mint cords, so I remixed them with my spring jacket and my new Converse yesterday. I was stupid enough to wear my Chucks for the first time to the parade last weekend, but thankfully my sneakerhead boyfriend had some super-duper cleaner that erased any sign that they were worn. Thanks babe!

I'm about to run off to my Thursday-night kickboxing class to punch out the week's frustrations, but thank goodness for Friday. I'm craving an adventure this weekend, what are you up to?

Bits and Pieces

Head to Toe: Flannel, Pac Sun; Jean Jacket, Forever 21; Black Jacket, Old Navy; Leggings, Charlotte Russe; Boots, Hunter

I had to settle for porch pics today considering it is monsoon-ing outside. If only I had my super-cute brown plaid umbrella to style with this outfit, I wouldn't need shelter. Unfortunately, it has gone to the home for lost umbrellas along with the other three I have recently "misplaced" (a.k.a. left on the train, on the train platform or otherwise mysteriously disappeared). Now I am left with a super not-cute $3 drugstore umbrella that I bought in a pinch because, why bother? Anyway, I am so tired of my puffers and pea-coats that I decided to layer spring jackets instead. This one, thankfully has a hood so I will be mildly protected in the probable event that I cannot find my umbrella.

In other news, Sunday was one of my favorite days of the year, the New Haven St. Patrick's Day parade. I love being in the city of my Alma Mater, and when else is it socially acceptable to spike your coffee with Bailey's at 10 a.m.? It was a great day catching up with friends and having a few too many car bombs.
My Irish guy, could you tell?
